As we get ready to welcome 2014, here is a look back at some of the new business that opened and businesses that expanded or moved during the past year.
New Plans in Works For Former Westhampton Beach Bowling Alley
The darkened former bowling alley, which sits at 78 Sunset Avenue in Westhampton Beach, is close to being transformed into retail space, complete with a 50-seat restaurant. The owners of the property, Sunset West, LLC, based out of Manhattan, have started a project to reconstruct the 20,000 square-foot building to serve year-round businesses.

The dollar Tree, which operates thousands of stores in 48 states, according to its website, is expected to move next door to Wild By Nature in the Tiana Shopping Center on Montauk Highway, according to a sign posted on the building in early December.
Hampton Cupcake Lounge Expands
The business, which sells healthy cupcakes, cake pops and cookies, announced that its goods will soon be available in local shops.
Sydney's of Westhampton Beach Looking to Move to New Location
The 20-year old business announced that it has plans to re-locate at the end of December.

Hampton Bays Couple Starts Private Music Lesson Business
In October, Michael Farkas and Lauren Petrolito not only have a love for each other, but a love for music and together they have started a new private music lesson service in Hampton Bays.
New Farm Stand Opens In Hampton Bays
In August, a new farm stand popped up in Hampton Bays. The stand is owned by Hampton Nursery on Montauk Highway and offers fresh goods from local farmers, including corn, onions, and potatoes.
Now Serving: The Hampton Lady
Nestled next to the Shinnecock fishing docks is a new restaurant that features panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Shinnecock Bay - it's called the Hampton Lady and opened in July.
Family-Run Farm Sprouts in Hampton Bays
A new family-run farm is growing roots in Hampton Bays.
The organic farm, called Sweet Woodland Farm, opened this summer, selling selling fresh eggs from their 12 chickens, heirloom vegetable plants from their organic garden, and handmade wood items, such as bowls that are crafted by Mike Stephens, a cabinet-maker by trade.

Looking for designer clothing at a discount? A new consignment shop opened its doors in Hampton Bays in July and offers high-end goods at affordable prices.
New Restaurant to Open in East Quogue
A new restaurant opened Memorial Day weekend in the former two-year-old La Lanterna restaurant in East Quogue. The new 80-seat restaurant, called the Station, according to owner Rafe Worthington, of Quogue, and his partner, Marina Rutherfurd, is based on a farm-to-table model where most everything served is either grown or landed locally.
10-Year-Old Launches Clothing Company
While most boys his age are out playing on the monkey bars, Tommy Wilkie, a ten-year-old from Hampton Bays, who attends Our Lady of the Hamptons, launched is own clothing company in May, selling his designs in local shops.

New Hampton Bays Bakery Now Serving Columbian Delights
In September, a new bakery opened on Main Street in Hampton Bays. The new bakery, called Antojitos, which translates to crepes in English, is owned by Robisnon Velez, who hails from Columbia.
