What Does the Fox Say?

A female Red Fox has joined the Quogue Wildlife Refuge family.

The Quogue Wildlife refuge welcomed a new critter late last week — a female red fox.

The fox, according to the refuge, arrived from the Save The Animal Rescue Foundation of Middle Island, after the organization deemed the fox unable to be released back into the wild.

The fox had been hit by a car and was nursed back to health by the STAR foundation, but its back right paw remains permanently injured.

The red fox, who is just a year old is the second fox at the refuge, which is home to 12 animals, including a male fox, who is 12-years-old.

The refuge is currently keeping both foxes in separate cages until they become acquainted and will eventually allow them to live together.
