The following is a round-up of headlines posted during the week of May 6. 

1. Former Trustee: 'The Most Expensive Ice Cream in the Hamptons'

Holding up a photo of a 6-foot tall ice cream cone sculpture, which has been the subject of an ongoing lawsuit in Westhampton Beach, former Westhampton Beach Trustee Joan Levan declared it is "the most expensive ice cream cone in the Hamptons."

2. PHOTOS: Horseshoe Crab Tagging Blitz Kicks-Off

Cornell Cooperative Extension's horseshoe tagging program at Pikes Beach in West Hampton Dunes is off to a great start, according to Regina Mulhearn, of Cornell.

3. Local Teens Nominated For Teeny Awards

It's that time of year again — when young, aspiring stars are honored for their theatrical talents at the Teeny Awards. Locally, 7 students from Hampton Bays and Westhampton Beach were nominated.

4. Egg Creams: You Can Still Find Them Locally

There are plenty of places serving the throwback drink. In fact, right here in Westhampton, Sydney's serves up the best egg creams.

5. What Do you Want to See at Good Ground Park?

On Monday night, Hampton Bay residents will have the opportunity to voice their thoughts on a plan to improve the Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays at a meeting set for 5 p.m. at the Hampton Bays Community Center. 

6. New Bagel Store Coming To Hampton Bays?

A sign on a vacant store next to Wild by Nature indicates that a new bagel store is looking to move in.

The new bagel shop will join a new restaurant, called Moe's Southwest Grill, which is expected to move into the former Blockbuster location.

Beach Bakery Expansion Project On Schedule

On Wednesday afternoon, Simon Jorna, owner on the Beach Bakery on Main Street in Westhampton Beach was busy over seeing his $2.5 million expansion project. 

8. Shop Owner: 'Get Your Q On'

Theresa Fontana, owner of the Quogue Shop, is on a mission to rally some Quogue spirit. 

9. Open For The Season: Hampton Fruit And Vegetable

The 20-year-old, family-owned Hampton Fruit and Vegetable stand in East Quogue is now open for the season.

The stand, owned by Moira and Cavit Sarigul, opened two weeks ago with hours varying between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. daily.

10. Hampton Bays Store For Rent

39 Montauk Highway is now available for rent.

According to M&N Management, the 3,240 square-foot space is on the market for $4,500 per month - a price that is negotiable.

11. E Day Salon To Launch New Hair Products

E Day Salon in Hampton Bays is set to launch a new line of hair and skin products, called Moroccan Oil, later this month. 

From May 23 to May 24, the salon will celebrate the launch with free samples and scalp treatments with any hair cut - a $25 value. Representatives from Moroccan Oil will also be on hand.

12. Girl Scouts Deliver Cookies to 106th Members

In an effort to recognize local heros, Girl Scouts from Service Unit 48, based out of Mastic and Shirley, delivered Girl Scout cookies to members of the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach on Saturday. 

13. Environmental Advocate: East End Beaches Are Healing

Despite a hurricane and several winter coastal storms, many of the East End's ocean beaches are starting to heal, while others are still struggling, according to one environmental advocate.   

"It's been a rock and roll winter," said Aram Terchunian, of First Coastal Corporation. "The time sequence of all the storms never allowed for a full beach recovery, but now they are starting to enter that cycle."
