1. Former Deputy Mayor To Enter Westhampton Beach Race

Former Westhampton Beach Village Deputy Toni-Jo Birk has decided to enter her name in this year's village trustee race. 

Birk, who lost her bid a year ago for re-election, enters a week after Trustees Patricia DeBenedetto and Hank Tucker announced their candidacy under the Lightning Party. 

2. Lohan May Not Show Up at Westhampton Beach Seafield Facility

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, who was expected to check in at Westhampton Beach's 60-bed Seafield Rehabilitation Center for a 90-day stint on Thursday, may not be staying after all.

3. Hampton Theatre Company to Open Curtain on New Show

On May 23, the Hampton Theatre Company will open the curtain on a new show, "How the other half loves," originally produced in 1992. 

4. Nuzzi Aims To Unseat Schneiderman

Jay Schneiderman will face a challenger in his effort to earn his sixth and final term as a Suffolk County legislator.

Chris Nuzzi wants to move onto a county position after serving on the Southampton Town Board for eight years. A Republican-elected councilman, he has reached the term limit. On Tuesday night, he screened with the Southampton Town Republican Committee, though the decision ultimately lies with the Suffolk County GOP.

5. Proposed Sunday Bus Service Expansion Up For Vote Tuesday

Suffolk County residents who have long cried out for Sunday and evening bus service could soon see relief.

Suffolk Legislator Jay Schneiderman and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced this week an agreement that could provide a minimum of $1.1 million and up to $2.1 million in funding to expand Sunday bus service across Suffolk County.

6. Moe's Southwest Grill to Open in Hampton Bays

After being vacant for nearly a year, the former Blockbuster video location in Hampton Bays will have a tenant. 

A sign in the window, says that Moe's Southwest Grill will be opening at the spot.

7. 10-Year-Old Launches Clothing Company

While most boys his age are out playing on the monkey bars, Tommy Wilkie, a ten-year-old from Hampton Bays, who attends Our Lady of the Hamptons, is set to launch is own clothing company, selling his designs in local shops.

8. Hampton Bays Students Head to Scrabble Championship

A team of Hampton Bays students are among 86 teams of fourth through eighth graders getting ready to head to Washington, D.C. for the 2013 National School Scrabble Championship, hosted by Greenport's National Scrabble Association.

9. Connecticut Psychic Opens Shop in the Hamptons

Finding more of her clients summering in the Hamptons, Greenwich, Connecticut psychic Janet Lee has set up shop in Hampton Bays, Westhampton Beach and East Hampton.

10. Shuckers Sets Opening Season Date

For the past several weeks, Patrick McCormack, the owner of Shuckers, in Hampton Bays, has been readying his seasonal business for a May 18 opening.

11. Volunteers Needed For Horseshoe Crab Tagging Blitz

Cornell Cooperative Extension's Marine Program is seeking volunteers to help with its spring horseshoe crab tagging program at Pike's Beach in West Hampton Dunes and at Meschutt Beach in Hampton Bays, starting May 7.

12. 5 Seek 2 GOP Nods for Town Council Race

The slate of potential candidates vying for the Southampton Town GOP nomination in the Town Council race grew by one Tuesday, as Keith Davis, the owner of the Golden Pear cafes, was screened before the Republican committee.
