As police still search for the hit-and-run driver who killed young mother Erika Strebel in a tragic Eastport accident in early November, loved ones have set up a GoFundMe page to help the little boy she left behind.

The popular Westhampton Youth Wrestling program is gearing up for its winter season by starting to accept registration.

Civic to Debate Canoe Place Inn Project

The Hampton Bays Civic Association is poised to discuss Gregg and Mitchell Rechler's controversial Canoe Place Inn Project, which aims to restore the historic Canoe Place Inn in exchange for permits to build 40 town homes on the canal property in Hampton Bays. 

Town May Only Partially Preserve Neptune's Property

The Town of Southampton may not purchase the 2.8-acre Dune Road night-club Neptune's for $3.2 million. 

At an public hearing held on Tuesday on the possible purchase, Southampton Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst announced that the town is in discussions with community members about another plan that could result in the re-use of the Neptune's building as a restaurant.

County to Make Repairs to Post Lane Bridge

Starting next Monday, motorists looking to access Dune Road via the Post Lane Bridge in Quogue will have to use another bridge.

According to Quogue Police, the Suffolk County Public Works is set to start a scheduled bridge repair project that will close all access to the draw bridge.

Environmental Advocates Sue State Parks, SUNY

An East End-based advocate for cleaner waterways is suing the state parks and university system, claiming four waterfront state parks and a SUNY campus are discharging polluted wastewater from cesspools and septic systems into area waterways. 

Vehicle Goes Up in Flames on Sunrise Highway

Firefighters, including those from Hampton Bays, extinguished a burning vehicle on Wednesday just after midnight.

The car was reported on fire in the eastbound lane on Sunrise Highway, just east of the Shinnecock Canal at 12:30 a.m., according to Southampton Fire Department Second Assistant Chief Chris Brenner. 

First Cold Stunned Sea Turtles Rescued

The Riverhead Foundation has reported that it has rescued the first cold stunned sea turtles of the season. 

According to the foundation's Facebook page, the first, a juvenile Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle – the most endangered sea turtle species— was found near Davis Beach in Fire Island on Oct. 28. The second, also a Kemp's Ridley turtle, was rescued Monday in East Hampton.

LIRR Expands Holiday Train Service

A new MTA Long Island Rail Road timetable will go into effect on Monday and be in effect through Feb. 23, 2014. The LIRR is also adding extra service system-wide for the Thanksgiving holiday period.

Westhampton Beach Farmers Market Season Extended

The Westhampton Beach Farmers Market will be open an extra weekend. 

According to the Westhapton Chamber of Commerce, which runs the popular market, the season has been extended through Nov. 23 for customers looking to purchase fresh goods for Thanksgiving and Hanukah.
