WATCH: Dramatic Lightning-Thunderstorm Rolls Across The Bays

Lightning strike downs traffic light at Jessup and Montauk Highway.

The skies over Westhampton-Hampton Bays opened up at around 8:10 p.m. dumping inches of rain and sending thrilling lightning bolts followed by crashes of thunder all over the South Fork.

The rain, which was mixed with a bit of hail, stopped within a half hour, but lightening was still flashing across the southeastern horizon at 9:30 p.m.

In the aftermath tree branches littered the streets and the temperature, stripped of its humidity, lowered by nearly 20 degrees.
