Cops: Gym Teacher Hid Camera in Girls Locker Room

On March 20, New York State Police  charged a 27-year-old Westhampton Beach Middle School gym teacher with unlawful surveillance, a felony, for allegedly hiding a video camera in the girls locker room. The teacher, Thomas Sheppard, of Speonk, later plead guilty and was sentenced to 5 years probation.

Jay Sears Pleads Guilty to Porn Possession

In September, Philanthropist Jay Lockett Sears of East Moriches, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography before United States District Judge Denis R. Hurley in U.S. District Court. Sears, who remains free on bail, is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 17, 2014.

A String of Luxury Car Thefts Hits the Hamptons

Luxury cars are a dime a dozen in the Hamptons, but over the summer, there are some car thieves who seem to realize exactly what they're worth. Police agencies from Westhampton to East Hampton have been investigating a string of car thefts — nine this summer — that involve high-end vehicles, mostly foreign cars that went missing after they were left unlocked and with keys inside.

A Manhattan lawyer was sentenced to three and a third to ten years in prison in March by a judge after pleading guilty in December to driving drunk and fleeing the scene of a crime last summer.

Armed Break-In Leads to Fatal Shooting in Flanders

A 21-year old Flanders man died in January after he was shot in the chest on Jan. 27. The man, Demitri Hampton, was reportedly shot in the chest by two armed men who entered his home at 200 Priscilla Ave., according to Suffolk County police, who were alerted after they received a 911 call at about 3:15 a.m.

Cops: Speonk Stabbing Leads to Prostitution Arrest

A man with stab wounds and a broken arm who showed up on the doorstep of the Westhampton Beach Police Department  in January led, Southampton Town police to discover a prostitution operation, disguised as a perfume party in Speonk.

Hampton Bays Man Says Justin Bieber Kicked Him

In August, a 22-year-old Hampton Bays man said he was kicked by singer Justin Bieber and assaulted by the star's security after leaving South Pointe night club in Southampton, and now he plans to sue.
