Tonight: Experts Discuss State of the Bays

The Hampton Bays Civic Association is urging all residents to attend the meeting.

A week after the brown tide made a reappearance in Shinnecock Bay, five experts are slated to speak on the state of the bays at the Hampton Bays Civic Association's monthly meeting.

Set to make presentations are John Botos, executive director of the Peconic Institute; Adrienne Esposito, of the Citizens Campaign for the Environment; Kevin McAllister, the Peconic Bay Keeper; Dr. Ellen Pikitch, of Stony Brook University; and Ed Warner, Southampton Town trustee and a bayman.

The civic association is urging all residents to attend the meeting, saying "If the bays of Hampton Bays are a part of your life, you will want to be present
with your neighbors at this dramatic and hopeful program."

All five experts will be discussing not only the present state of the bays, but will provide a history of the bays, as well as projections for the future.

There will also be a question and answer session.

"They will set loose the evils of this volatile issue, and also offer projections of hope for a revitalized future of our bays," stated the civic.

The meeting, which will run until 9:00 p.m., will take place at the Hampton Bays Senior Center, 25 Ponquoque Avenue.
