This week, the Southampton Animal Shelter is looking to find a home for Max, a 2-year-old Pitbull mix who arrived at the shelter in August when his owner became ill and could no longer care for him.
According to Donald Bambrick, the animal shelter supervisor, Max loves dogs of all sizes but would prefer a home without cats.
"If 2-year-old Max is too young for you, we have plenty of older dogs that might be a better fit," Bambrick said, adding that through December, all adoption fees are waived on dogs over 6-years-old.
The shelter is also waiving fees on all cats and kittens through December.
All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.
Adoption fees typically range from $40 to $60 for a cat and from $60 to $125 for a dog.
To adopt Max or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit them at 102 Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays.
