Southampton Pet of the Week: Fredan is Free

Southampton has some loving pets available for adoption.

This week, the Southampton Animal Shelter is looking to find a home for Fredan, a 10-year-old orange tabby. His adoption fee has been waived as part of the shelter's fall free adoption event.

According to Donald Bambrick, the animal shelter supervisor, Fredan arrived at the shelter from a hoarder’s house where he lived with 50 other cats, two dogs, birds and a raccoon.

Aside from finding a home for Fredan this week, Bambrick said the shelter has a goal to find homes for 35 other cats and kittens by the end of the month.

"We’ll have a running tally of all our cat adoptions for the month on our Facebook page so check our page often," said Bambrick.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees typically range from $40 to $60 for a cat and from $60 to $125 for a dog.
