Southampton Pet of the Week: Moon

Southampton has some loving pets available for adoption.

This week, the Southampton Animal Shelter is looking to find a home for Moon, a four-year-old female American Eskimo dog.

According to Donald Bambrick, the animal shelter supervisor, Moon has been at the shelter almost a year.

"She and 11 other dogs were confiscated from a hoarder situation and has waited this long just to be available for adoption," said Bambrick. "She is a sweet, shy girl who likes other dogs and cats."

Aside from finding a home for Moon this week, Bambrick said the shelter's free cat adoption promotion is still running through the end of the month.

The program, said Bambrick has a goal to find homes for 35 cat and kittens by the end of the month.

"We’ll have a running tally of all our cat adoptions for the month on our Facebook page so check our page often," said Bambrick.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees typically range from $40 to $60 for a cat and from $60 to $125 for a dog.

To adopt Moon or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit them at 102 Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays.
