This month, the Southampton Animal Shelter is looking to find a home for its cats by waiving adoption fees, including those for Suki and Fig, inseparable, eight-years-old cats who arrived at the shelter together in May 2011 when their owner had to go to a nursing home.
According to Donald Bambrick, the animal shelter supervisor, the free adoption promotion is part of a shelter's goal to find homes for 35 cat and kittens in October.
"We’ll have a running tally of all our cat adoptions for the month on our Facebook page so check our page often," said Bambrick.
All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.
Adoption fees typically range from $40 to $60 for a cat and from $60 to $125 for a dog.
To adopt Suki and Fig or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit them at 102 Old Riverhead Road in Hampton Bays.
