Say Goodbye To The Village Gazebo

The gazebo will be demolished in the coming days.

At its last meeting, Westhampton Beach Village officials decided to demolish the gazebo at the village marina.

The gazebo, which is wrapped in police caution tape, was badly damaged during Superstorm Sandy along with other amenities at the marina.

During the storm, water flooded the entire marina, while high winds ripped at least two boats from their slips, tossing them across the street from the marina.

Most of the marina has been repaired and the village has reopened dockage for the season; however, the gazebo, officials said is so badly damaged that it can't be fixed.

The village's department of public works is set to knock down the gazebo in the coming days and village board members are exploring options to replace it with a new structure.
