Fun was had by all.

Over 200 residents turned out for an annual open house hosted by the Westhampton Beach Fire Department Sunday afternoon featuring truck rides, water games, demonstrations and fun activities for the kids such as face painting.

The event, which was held at the Sunset Avenue firehouse in Westhampton Beach, featured rides in the department's brush truck and demonstrations of fire safety skills in a fire education trailer, as well as the opportunity to put out a small fire using a fire extinguisher. A simulated car fire held the crowd riveted.

One popular activity included using fre hoses to push a large ball along an overhead line; the main objective of the game was to push the ball into an opponent’s territory -- but soaking the opponent was fun, too.**
