PHOTOS: Dog Days of Summer

Even on the hottest days, dogs in the Hamptons still manage to stay cool.

The "dog days of summer" is an old expression used once temperatures start hiking. Many people believe the "dog days" last for 40 days beginning in July through mid August. People have it easy; they can wear summer clothes like shorts and T-shirts. Dogs can never take off their fur coats.

Patch is on the prowl for dogs in action as part of the Dog Days of Summer photo series. So e-mail photos of your dogs keepin' cool to Erica.Jackson@patch.com, text them to 631-605-9648, tweet them to @WHampBayspatch or Facebook them.
