Photos: Crowds Gather for Fireworks, Concert

Postponed for a rain storm that never came, Fourth of July celebrations on Monday were a big success.

The annual fireworks put on by the Westhampton Country Club on Potunk Lane were a hit yet again this year with fireworks-watchers lining the sidewalk across the street from the club to await the show.

Potunk Lane was closed to traffic, so pedestrians were able to find a good spot and walk down to the Great Lawn to listen to the Concert for Steve and John.

The concert, in its second year, honors firemen Steve Smith and John Bachman for their dedication to the community. It was free, but donations were accepted and directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Originally scheduled for Sunday night, July 3, the fireworks and the concert were postponed due to a threatened thunderstorm that never materialized.

The fireworks, prepared by Grucci, started at dusk around 9 p.m. The club declined to provide any details about the show.
