Photo of the Day: Westhampton Beach Student Presented With Presidential Award

Legislator Jay Schneiderman presented Christi Dawydiak of Remensenberg with a proclamation last Tuesday.

Legislator Jay Schneiderman presented Christi Dawydiak, a student from Remensenberg with the President's Volunteer Service Award during last Tuesday's Suffolk County Legislative meeting.

The award, which was was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve, is signed by President Barack Obama.

To earn the award, Dawydiak, for the past year and half, has served as a member of the New York State Technology team where she taught in-service workshops to adults, conducted several youth and adult programs, and has taken the lead in several mapping projects both locally and nationwide.

According to Legislator Schnederman, Dawydiak has also volunteered during summer camp to teach youth about geospatial sciences and volunteers for her local Rotary and church. 

"Christi’s leadership and organizational skills have been invaluable to these programs," said Schnederman.
