Photo of the Day: Cub Scouts Perform a 'Good Turn'

The scouts of Pack 483 used money they earned for gifts for Maureen's Haven.

The scouts of Hampton Bays Pack 483 used money earned from cleaning and raking leaves to purchase goods for Maureen's Haven, a non-profit organization that houses the East End's homeless during the winter at local churches.

The scouts spent their last meeting decorating and preparing 60 gift bags filled with tooth brushes, toothpaste, band aids, warm socks and small candy, affixing each bag with a holiday card. The bags will be given to Maureen's Haven's guests.

"This reinforced and taught the scouts part of the Scout promise to "Help other people," said Cubmaster Scott Comenzo, who added that the boys have also been working to collect non-perishable food items that are being donated to the Food pantry at St. Rosalies Church.
