At 9 a.m., the temperature fell to 5 degrees, with a wind chill of -17.
As for the pond at the corner of Montauk Highway and Old Country Road: It's frozen, and is expected to remain that way for the next few days, as temperatures aren't expected to climb above freezing until Thursday.
