One Month After Tragedy, Civic To Discuss Conditions on Route 24

What do you think of the conditions on Route 24?

Almost one month after a tragic accident on New York State Route 24 took the life of Barbara Tocci, a local civic group is gathering Monday night to discuss conditions on the roadway.

Tocci's family has blamed potholes on the accident.

The Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association will meet Monday night at 7 p.m. at the David Crohan Community in Flanders, located at 655 Flanders Road, to discuss the road conditions.

In addition, a presentation will be given by Glynis Berry of Peconic Green Growth about wastewater treatment options for protecting the area's bays and drinking water.

Also, a resolution will be offered for adoption calling on the town to conduct an analysis of potential costs and benefits of a household refuse collection district for the civic's three hamlets.

"If the town’s report confirms favorable costs and service levels, we ask that the town initiate the public process to form the district," Vince Taldone, FRNCA president, said Monday.
