Nov. 18: Genealogy, Ghosts and Bingo

There's always plenty to do around town.

The Hampton Bays Library can help you research your beginnings with genealogy research tools.  You can also learn to search for ghosts.  For more on what to do today, visit our calendar of events

Thursday's Five:

1.     If you like to dabble in the supernatural, then you'll love the program the Hampton Bays Library has running tonight. will lead a discussion on their ghostly adventures from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They will demonstrate how they venture into Long Island's most haunted places.  Call (631) 728-6241 or stop by the circulation desk to register.

2.     If you took the on Saturday at the Hampton Bays Library, you can return today for the test results. A representative from Kaplan will be at the library from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to go over test scores as well as give an overview of the S.A.T.  For more information, call the library at 631-728-6241.  

3.     See Ani DeFranco at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center tonight at 8:00 p.m.  DiFranco is a Grammy award-winning artist with hundreds of songs.  She has played with many notable artists.  Tickets range from $45 to $75.   For more information, call the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center at (631) 288-1500.

4.     Learn where you really came from at the Hampton Bays Library as they help your .  They will help you research your ancestors using online resources, including AncestryPlus?  Sign up for a one-hour session with Carol.  She will give you hints on how to start your research, and a list of electronic resources that you can use at the library and from your home.  Call the library at (631) 728-6241 for information on times.

5.     There's always time for Bingo.  The Hampton Bays Senior Center holds Bingo everyday from 12:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  dates back to the 1500's in Italy. It arrived in the United States in 1929 and the game is still as popular as ever. The Southampton Senior Service Center holds bingo every day except Wednesdays.
