Nov. 11: Honor Veterans, Work Out and Delve into History

Today is Veterans Day and we at Patch want to salute our veterans.  There's a lot going on today, including a history book review at the library and lots of ways to get in shape.  Whatever you decide to do today, have fun.

Thursday's Five:

1.     Today is Veterans Day and we all owe a debt of gratitude to our friends and neighbors who have fought for us in all wars.  If you know a veteran, make this a special day for him or her.  We at Patch want to thank everyone who has given of themselves in defense of our country.  There will be a ceremony at Veterans Plaza on Ponquogue Avenue at 11:00 a.m.  All are welcome.  Happy Veterans Day.

2.     Get a Wake Up workout. Town of Southampton Parks & Recreation will hold from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. at the Lodge at Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays today through December 16.  For more information, call (631) 728-8585. The cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

3.     Join the Hampton Bays Library for their. Tocqueville's Discovery of America by Leo Damrosch will be discussed. Call the library at (631) 728-6241 for more information.

4.     Learn Tai Chi. The Town of Southampton Parks & Recreation will hold classes to teach from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. This is an on-going course.  It will run Thursdays from November 11 until December 16. The cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents.  For information on registration, call Town of Southampton Parks & Recreation at (631) 728-8585.

5.     There will be aerobics classes tonight. Town of Southampton Parks & Recreation will hold at the Lodge at Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays.  The classes will run through December 20 with no class on December 25. The classes start at 5:15 p.m. and run until 6:45 p.m. The cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents.
