More paid emergency medical service personnel are coming to the Town of East Hampton. The Amagansett Fire District is moving forward with its own program, while the Montauk Fire District builds on the success of its paid service, the first ever east of Southampton.


Fire Department Launches Stop Texting and Driving Bumper Sticker Campaign

The Southampton Fire Department wants drivers to put down their phones, heed the law, and stop texting while behind the wheel. Chief Dennis Roy said his department is launching a bumper sticker campaign with a message to motorists: "Your friends at the Southampton Fire Department want you to stop texting while driving."

"I go to a lot of accidents and it's obvious what people were doing," Roy said.

Quogue Residents Want More Sand on Quogue Beaches

While the Village of Quogue has made efforts to restore its village beach after Superstorm Sandy's winds ravished nearly a year ago, a 12-year-old group of area residents believe more needs to be done to secure 2.7 miles of Dune Road beachfront in the village.
