LIRR Expands Holiday Train Service

Trains will operate on a weekday schedule on the first day of Hanukkah, Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

A new MTA Long Island Rail Road timetable will go into effect on Monday and be in effect through Feb. 23, 2014. The LIRR is also adding extra service system-wide for the Thanksgiving holiday period.

According to the LIRR, additional PM trains will operate on Nov. 27 (the first day of Hanukkah) and on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. As an extra bonus, off-peak fares will be in effect for the entire four-day holiday weekend.

On Black Friday, Nov. 29, traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year, the LIRR will also run a weekday train schedule with off-peak fares in effect all day.
