Kids Grab N’ Go Weekend Planner: Take a Hike, Ice Skate and Register for Soccer

Looking for a great place to take the kids this weekend? Here's a list to keep handy.

We’re glad you clicked on our new Grab & Go Kids Planner.  Here we've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with your children. 

Every Wednesday, we'll give you the information on the five best family activities or events of the week.  You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

1. Babies and Books

On Saturday, the Westhampton Library, 7 Library Avenue, has a book program available for children 6 to 12 months old.  Parents and their babies can sit and read and sing together during this hour-long program, which starts at 10 a.m. For more information, call (631) 288-3335.

2. Soles4Souls ‘Fun-Raiser’

In case you haven’t gotten a chance yet, bring the kids over to , 22 Sunset Avenue in Westhampton Beach, to create a pair of colorful shoes. The fee is $30, but the money will be donated to Soles4Souls, a non-profit organization that provides shoes to those in need.  And if crafting shoes isn’t up your child’s alley, there are plenty of other crafts available. The craft store is open all weekend. Call (631) 998-0563 for storefront hours. 

3. Register for Soccer

The Hamptons United Soccer Club gearing up for the season and holding spring soccer registration on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, .

4.  Ice Skating

As long as the weather is right, why not take the kids ice-skating. There are plenty of local places to skate.  Click for more information.

5. Take a Hike

On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to noon, the Group for the East End will lead a winter hike along the Long Pond Greenbelt.  It’s a great way to get out and get some fresh air, which always helps the kiddies sleep better.  For more information or to register for the walk, call (631) 765-6450 x 212.
