Over 400 scouts will learn about HAM radio while camping at Sears Bellows in Hampton Bays.

This weekend, some 400 Boy Scouts, including many from Hampton Bays will descend on Sears Bellows campground in Hampton Bays for the annual Jamboree on the Air camping program.

During the weekend, scouts will not only have the opportunity to talk to 700,000 scouts across the world using a HAM radio station that will be set up at the camp, but will also get to talk to the International Space Station.

"It's a super exciting weekend," said Allen Schneider, a Hampton Bays Scoutmaster.

Also during the weekend, the scouts will be given training in emergency preparedness, focusing on ways they can help their community in the case of an disaster, like Superstorm Sandy.
