Hampton Bays Historical Society Releases 2012 Ornament

This year's ornament features the Shinnecock/Ponquogue Lighthouse and Shinnecock Coast Guard station.

The has released its 2012 ornament and ironically, it features the , which was marked forever in history on where it once stood some 90 years ago.

"We just chose it because we figured it was something of interest. It was mere coincidence that they placed the marker at the site," said Brenda Berntstein, head of the society.

The ornament, which is retailing for $15 at local shops, was designed by the society as a reproduction of a postcard that depicts the lighthouse and . It joins a series of other historical society ornaments released in the past, including ones that depict the Mary Jackson House, which sat on Canoe Place Rd; ; AP Squires General Store; the old Key Food; Ellis Squires House; the Centennial of Hampton Bays Schools; Ada's attic; the Shinnecock Canal and .
