Gray Seal Pup To Be Released on Saturday

After a long road, Timone has recovered and is playful and ready to enter her natural environment.

After a long road to recovery, a gray seal pup is ready to return home to her natural habitat.

The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation came to the rescue in April, when a local beach walker found a 45-pound female gray seal pup stranded on a Southampton beach.

Named Timone, the pup had a long road to recovery, but is now strong and playful and ready to return home to her natural environment.

The seal will be released on Saturday at 5 p.m. under the Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays.
