Free Prom Dresses For Hampton Bays Seniors

Need a dress for the prom? The Hampton Bays Library has a great selection.

Hampton Bays High School seniors who plan to attend the prom this year, but might not have the money to buy a brand-new dress will be able to get one thanks to a new program at the Hampton Bays Library.

Over the past month, the library's teen service department has been busy collecting dresses, along with accessories, including purses and shoes. To date, over 100 dresses have been donated.

The teen department says the dresses that have been brought in range in sizes from 0 to plus sizes, are variety of colors and many are in brand-new condition —  some with tags still on them.

There are even a number of designer dresses, the department said.

Students, said Jackie Dunn, will be able to start trying on dresses on May 1.

In the meantime, the library is asking anyone with garment racks to donate or that can be borrowed to reach out to Dunn or Theresa Owens at 631-728-6241 ext. 120. Donations of dresses and accessories are also still being accepted.
