Exotic Bird Spotted in Westhampton Beach

Photo sent via twitter to Patch.

Westhampton Beach mom Stephanie Lander used her cell phone to snap this photo on Baycrest Avenue in Westhampton Beach on Wednesday night in hopes of notifying the bird's owner.

Via twitter, Lander said the yellow bird, which appears to be exotic, was perched near the 14th tee at around 6 p.m.

Interesting. It looks like a male Yellow Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus), a breed-morph of the standard semi-domesticated Golden Pheasant, native to China but now bred in any places. Very pretty. I know some folks in that neighborhood keep Peafowl, maybe he came from there. I hope he gets home safely.
