EVENT PREVIEW: First Annual San Gennaro Fest

Parade to kick off weekend event at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

For the past several months, Simone Scotto, owner of and the have been working to create a that will draw crowds to Hampton Bays.  That festival will kick off this weekend.

The first annual San Gennaro festival will commence on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with Grand Marshal James V. Papandrea leading a parade, which will start at the and run down Ponquogue Avenue to Montauk Highway and up Springville Road.

Festival attendees will then be able to enjoy festivities on Good Ground Road by the Long Island Railroad Station. At the site there will be some 50 craft vendors, carnival rides, live entertainment, a classic car show, pony rides, and wine tasting booths.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Joseph R. Gannascoli, who played Vito on the Sopranos, will be on hand to sign books.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to , a non-profit organization that provides shelter to the East End's homeless population during the winter.
