New Owners For Former JD Steakhouse in Southold

For North Fork residents hankering for authentic diner food, the wait is over.

New owners Archie and Pat Dellaportas recently purchased the former JD Steakhouse on Route 25 in Southold.

The couple also owns the popular  Bel-Aire Diner in Long Island City, Queens.

The goal is to have the new Southold eatery, which will be called Six Three One, open by August 1.

New Wading River Farmers Market Brings Community Together
A new farmers market in Wading River is a dream come true for the women who've made it a reality.

The Wading River Local Market, located at the duck ponds in Wading River, kicked off at the end of June, and is open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Owner Kathleen Baumann Schnoor, along with her mom Judy Baumann, and Melanie Paul have a vision.

Shock Gets New Ice Cream Sculpture

As the national media continues to feature Shock's ice cream cone lawsuit, owner of Shock Elyse Richman has marked the occasion by buying a new 6-foot sculpture.

The sculpture, which she bought in Southampton, replaces the sculpture that is the center of a lawsuit and that Richman said was stolen.

Whitmore's Celebrates 45 Years in Business
Charlie Whitmore was born to work with trees.

Though this Friday’s event at Whitmore’s Garden Center at 26 Montauk Highway in Amagansett celebrates his 45 year career in the landscaping business, in Whitmore’s recollection, his journey started far earlier than that— riding shotgun in his father’s truck as he went between jobs.

Whitmore’s father Doc Whitmore began the family business in 1946. Charlie Whitmore, born in 1951, spent his early youth tailing his father around, and in high school he began working on a spray truck treating fruit trees.

Flying Point Spa Pampering Clients Through First Summer

Kattia Bennett never dreamed she'd have her own business, but she said the fact that she has own nail salon proves that really anything is possible in this country.

Flying Point Spa opened six months ago in Southampton, and Bennett is enjoying her first summer season in business.
