Don't Miss It: Wrestling Fundraiser at the Boardy Barn

At 7 p.m. community members are invited to participate in the fundraiser.

A free, youth wrestling program is aiming to raise much-needed funds tonight at the Boardy Barn.

At 7 p.m. community members are invited to participate in the fundraiser, which will feature live music and a chinese auction. The cost: $25 at the door.

All money raised at the event will help defray the costs of equipment and insurance. It will also be used to fund scholarships for local schools.

The youth wrestling program, known as Westhampton Youth Wrestling, has been providing training to to students each winter for the past 9 years.

It was started by father and son Vinny and Jeff Ciolino, who wanted to provide another activity for the area’s youth in the winter.

During each session, the kids are broken up by age group and given the opportunity to practice their wrestling skills with a coach — parents are encouraged to take off their shoes and get on the mat as well.

Parents are welcome to bring their children to any Tuesday or Thursday session in December, January, February and March for a trial class. A donation of $75 is requested to cover uniforms, insurance, use of the school gym, and USA Wrestling registration, but the donation is not required for participation.
