Leaving the Scene of an Accident

On Dec. 13, a Springville Road resident called police when someone driving a Chevy Impala struck the door of his Toyota Camry and continued driving. 

In another incident, police arrested Amy Douglas Smith for driving her car up a Hampton Bays resident's driveway, crashing into a Jeep and then smashing into the wall of the resident's home.  She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Grand Larceny

On Dec.18, an East Quogue man reported that his car was stolen from Chevy Chase Street in Hampton Bays.  According to police, his car was located 20 minutes later in nearby woods.

Last week, a resident of Springville Road in Hampton Bays claimed that his hired painter stole several pieces of jewelry from his home.

On Dec. 11, a resident of East Quogue reported to police that air conditioning equipment was taken from a house he is building on Lacebark Lane.

Petit Larceny

A resident of Quogue reported that an ex-tenant stole and X-box and games from her home.

A kayak was reported stolen from the backyard of a Gardner's Lane home last week.

Illegal ATV Usage

On Dec. 18, police issued a ticket to Jorge Martinez, 59 of Hampton Bays for operating a 2008 Yamaha ATV on a public roadway without proper permits.

Domestic Incident

Police responded a Hampton Bays home on Dec. 19 when a man and his brother got into an argument over a television station.  Julian Jordan was arrested and charged with Harassment in the second degree.

Criminal Mischief

Melissa Williams, 39, who claims to be homeless, was charged with criminal mischief on Dec. 13 when she grabbed another woman by the neck and damaged the windshield of her 1999 Mercury.

Burglary

On December 15, a West Tiana Road resident claimed someone entered her rear kitchen door and stole disks to a camera system.

Charges are merely accusations. Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. A name will only be removed if the accused has been acquitted and can provide a certificate of disposition. Contact the editor to make such a request.
