Comedian Paula Poundstone Hopes to 'Discover the Hamptons'

Poundstone will appear at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday night.

Funny lady Paula Poundstone, who hails from California, will be making an appearance at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday night.  Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch thought it would be fun to ask the 32-year professional comedian what she thinks of the Hamptons.

Do you have any local connections to the Hamptons?

Once, about a thousand years ago I did I private job in the Hamptons. It was in a tent in the middle of a field. There were many rich people. I had fun. I don't think it's there anymore, though. The field might still be there, but surely they've taken the tent down. They are, after all, temporary structures.

So you’ve performed in the Hamptons before?

Yes, I also used to perform at a theater whose dressing room was laden with Roddy McDowell memorabilia. I think that was in the Hamptons, but I could be wrong about that.

Where do you like to eat when you’re in the Hamptons?

I ate at a delicious restaurant right across the street from that theater, but I can't remember the name of it. If Roddy McDowell wasn't dead, we could ask him. They gave me a hat. I remember that there was a crossed fork emblem on the back of the hat, which symbolized their use of forks. Is any of this ringing a bell? Think it overlooked water. I remember seeing boats. They were awfully nice there.

Where do you like to shop in the Hamptons?

Honestly, I don't usually leave my hotel room too much, because I like to rest and prepare to give the audience my deluxe show, whether I am in the Hamptons or Cleveland.

What are your thoughts on performing at Westhampton Beach PAC?

This weekend I hope to discover the Hamptons.
