Beach Reunion Held For Hampton Bays Class of 1968

Memories were shared at the gathering at the beach.

On Wednesday afternoon, several graduates of Hampton Bays' Class of 1968 met to reminisce over a few pizza at one of their old hang-outs — Ponquogue Beach.

The gathering was called, Bruce King, a member of the class said, because fellow classmate, Joe Flynn and his wife, Annette planned a visit to Hampton Bays.

"Most of us had not had contact with Joe much after graduation in 1968," said King. "A lot of discussion went into deciding where to meet, but where could be better than Ponquogue Beach in September."

King said during the 5-hour gathering, a lot of stories were told and all had a message for all the graduating classes of Hampton Bays High School: "Keep in touch, don't forget your school."

The last time, members of the class of '68 met was for their 40th reunion, five years ago. At that time, they donated three red maple trees to the school district — those trees are now growing in front of the Hampton BAys Elementary School.
