The Hamptons saw its second pygmy sperm whale wash up on one of its beaches on Sunday when a live baby whale washed up on the shore in Amagansett.
Rescuers ended up having the euthanize the animal because it was sick and local researchers did not have space in their facility to rehabilitate it.

In May 2012, an adult pygmy sperm whale was discovered 500 feet from the shore near Dune Road in West Hampton Dunes. In that case, the whale, considered rare to be found in local waters, washed up dead. Researchers said it had died from illness.
