Adopt Webster, a Longhaired Cat or Scooter, a Coonhound Mix

The Southampton Animal Shelter and Bideawee have some loving animals for adoption.

This week, both Bideawee of Westhampton and the in Hampton Bays have special pets available for adoption.

Over at Bideawee, Scooter, a coonhound mix, who is a Bideawee staff favorite, is looking for a home.

According to Amy Hraniotis, event manager for Bideawee, Scooter is one of the most sweet, gentle and easy-going dogs the shelter have ever taken in.

"At 78 lbs, he is the definition of a gentle giant," said Hraniotis. "He walks well on the leash, grew up with infant children and would do well in a home with kids of any age."

Hraniotis also noted Scooter loves other dogs and wouldn’t mind a home with canine companionship.

According to Hraniotis, all of Bideawee’s pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.  Bideawee’s pets receive socialization, exercise, behavior training and other daily activities that let the staff get to know each animal's special personality, so that they can make the best match for you.

The adoption fee for Scooter is $150 and all Bideawee adopters receive a free, one-on-one training session and a free visit at the Westhampton Bideawee Veterinary Practice.  To adopt Scooter or any other animal, call the adoption center at 631-325-0200 or visit them at 118 Old Country Road, Westhampton.

Over at the Southampton Animal Shelter, Donald Bambrick, animal shelter supervisor says the shelter is looking for a home for Webster, a very handsome domestic longhaired cat.

According to Bambrick, Webster was brought in as a stray in April.

"He is now waiting patiently for a family to come in and adopt him," said Babrick.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees range from between $40 and $60 for a cat and $60 and $125 for a dog.

To adopt Webster or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit 102 Old Riverhead Rd in Hampton Bays.
