Adopt Lottie, a Hound Mix, or Bigg, an American Bulldog

The Southampton Animal Shelter and Bideawee have some loving animals for adoption.

This week, both Bideawee of Westhampton and the of Hampton Bays have special pets available for adoption.

Bideawee is looking to find a home for Lottie, a hound mix, and the Southampton Animal Shelter is trying to find a home for Bigg, an American bulldog.

According to Amy Hraniotis, event manager for Bideawee, Lottie came to Bideawee all the way from Kentucky through a local rescue group.

"Lottie was found by the local shelter, chained outside her former home," said Hraniotis. "Sadly, Lottie had broken off all her front teeth trying to chew through the metal chain and become free.  She was rescued and taken in by the Kentucky shelter, and then brought to Bideawee for care and treatment."

Hraniotis says Lottie is very sweet and gentle, but is still shy and timid after experiencing trauma so early in life.

"Lottie is seeking a patient, loving home to enjoy the rest of her life," she said.

The adoption fee for Lottie is $150 and all Bideawee adopter’s receive a free, one-on-one training session and a free visit at the Westhampton Bideawee Veterinary Practice.  To adopt Prince or any other animal, call the Adoption Center at 631-325-0200 or visit them at 118 Old Country Rd, Westhampton.

According to Hraniotis, all of Bideawee’s pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Bideawee’s pets receive socialization, exercise, behavior training and other daily activities that let our staff get to know each animal's special personality, so that we can make the best match for you.

Over at the Southampton Animal Shelter, Donald Bambrick, animal shelter supervisor says the shelter is seeking a home for Bigg, a 6-year-old American bulldog

Bambrick said, "Big is a laid back guy. He weighs about 110 pounds and is a gentle giant."

According to Bambrick, a family with kids is okay for Bigg, but Bigg needs a home where he is the only dog in the household.

If Bigg is not the type of pet you are looking for, there are plenty of other animals that need love and care.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees range from between $40 and $60 for a cat and $60 and $125 for a dog.

To adopt Bigg or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit 102 Old Riverhead Rd in Hampton Bays.
