Adopt Alex, a Semi Long Hair Cat or Zenith, a Domestic Longhair

The Southampton Animal Shelter and Bideawee have some loving animals for adoption.

This week, both Bideawee of Westhampton and the of Hampton Bays have special pets available for adoption.

Bideawee is looking to find a home for Zenith, a seven-month-old kitten, who came to Bideawee with his siblings, Polaris and Mulligan, in early December of 2010

According to Amy Hraniotis, event manager for Bideawee, they kittens were rescued by the local Animal Control Division from a hoarder in Suffolk County, before being brought to Bideawee for care and housing.  Zenith and his siblings were discovered, freezing cold, living in a barn, and were severely emaciated and dehydrated.

"All three of the kittens were suffering from upper respiratory infections, ear mites, and intestinal parasites. Zenith and his siblings were the only animals who escaped from that home with their lives, due to Bideawee’s intervention and the treatment given.  Zenith is undoubtedly one of the sweetest and most social kittens that Bideawee has ever had.  His personality is absolutely charming, and he will be the first to jump on your shoulder, to snuggle into your neck for love and warmth.  It goes without say, that after such a traumatizing and difficult early life, Zenith’s spirit is resilient, and his livelihood effervescent.  He is every bit as personable as one ever imagined a kitten to be, and is more than deserving of a fantastic forever home," said Hraniotis

The adoption fee for Zenith is $150 and all Bideawee adopter’s receive a free, one-on-one training session and a free visit at the Westhampton Bideawee Veterinary Practice.  To adopt Prince or any other animal, call the Adoption Center at 631-325-0200 or visit them at 118 Old Country Road, Westhampton.

According to Hraniotis, all of Bideawee’s pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations.  Bideawee’s pets receive socialization, exercise, behavior training and other daily activities that let our staff get to know each animal's special personality, so that we can make the best match for you.

Over at the Southampton Animal Shelter, Donald Bambrick, animal shelter supervisor says the shelter is looking to find a home for Alex, a handsome, three-year-old, semi long haired cat who loves children.

Bambrick, said Alex was returned to the shelter because his owner had no time and a new baby in the house.

If Alex is not the type of pet you are looking for, there are plenty of other animals that need love and care.

All animals are licensed, up to date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped and have been spayed or neutered, according to Bambrick.

Adoption fees range from between $40 and $60 for a cat and $60 and $125 for a dog.

To adopt Alex or any of the other animals available for adoption, call the shelter at 631-728-7387 or visit 102 Old Riverhead Rd in Hampton Bays.
