Gifts are a large part of our Christmas holiday celebration, but have we ever stopped to think about the reason why we give and receive gifts.
On Christmas, we give and receive gifts to and from our loved ones because that very first Christmas God the Father gave to us the Greatest Gift of all time and eternity. He gave to us His Son. The wrapping was a manger scene. The motive was pure love. The purpose was to save us from our sins. The price was the eventual cross. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, has been given to us.
Through faith in Him, we receive and unwrap Him into our hearts. How wonderful it is to know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. As Immanuel-God with us!
At Christmas time, our gift giving and receiving is a simple reminder and reflection of all of this. So as we give and receive gifts from our loved ones this Christmas, may we do so with Jesus in mind. He is God the Father’s Gift to us. The Greatest Gift of all!
