The holidays are a great time to reach out and help someone in need.

1. World  Village Fair Trade Market

Every purchase made at , 101 W. Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, will go toward helping orphans in Africa. The nonprofit also offers opportunities to sponsor a child for $10. For more information, call (631) 728-7880.

2. Maureen's Haven

Maureen's Haven, which provides winter shelter to the homeless on the East End, is always looking for help during the holidays.  From donations of clothing and coats to basic items, such as soaps, toothbrushes and toothpaste, the organization needs it.  To donate, call (631) 727-6831.

3. Baby Shock Coat Drive

Baby Shock of Westhampton Beach is collecting warm coats every day from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call (631) 288-1772.

4. Southampton Animal Shelter 

, located at 102 Old Riverhead Rd. Hampton Bays, is always willing to accept donations to help care for the animals it takes in. One way to help the shelter is through its brick program.  Bricks can be purchased for $150 and engraved with your pet's name and paw print.  For more information, call (631)728-7387

5. Hampton Bays Historical & Preservation Society

, located at 140 W. Montauk Hwy. in Hampton Bays, is in the process of restoring several beloved structures in, including the Canoe Place Chapel. Monetary donations are needed to save the structures.  For more information, call (631) 728-0887.

6. Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons

, located at 228 W. Montauk Highway in  Hampton Bays helps over 2,000 animals each year.  The organization offers a number of donation opportunities through membership. Call (631) 728-4200 for more information.

7. Stuff a Bus

On Sunday, December 11, the girls winter track team is hosting a stuff the bus event. They are collecting new toys and new clothes for community families in need. Call (631) 723-3110 for more information.

8. Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a staple of the holiday season with its bell-ringers.  You can always provide the organization with your spare change, but it also accepts donations for its food pantry that is located at 130 Osborn Avenue in Riverhead.  Call (631) 727-3338.

9.  Human Resources of the Hamptons 

The Human Resources of the Hamptons, located at 168 Hill Street in Southampton, provides help to over 6,000 people a year.  It is always in need of food and clothing to stock its pantry and clothing room. For more information, call (631) 283-6415.

10.  HUGS

A not-for-profit organization, the Human Understanding Growth Seminars, located at 110 Mill Road in Westhampton Beach, is a youth organization that provides educational and recreational programs for middle and high school students. To donate to the program, call (631) 288-9505.
