Easter Seals Gala Tops $300K

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:Easter Seals Gala 2014: Journey for Hope Gala Raises over $300,000 and honors Hugh L. Carey, Heffernan Insurance and HighTower(New York, May 19, 2014) Easter Seals New York’s Gala this year was held at the World Trade Center Tower 4. It was a scene of one of our nation’s darkest hours, but as always, the spirit of America shines through. The theme of the Gala this year was a “Journey for Hope.” World Trade Center Tower 4 is a symbol of hope, faith and charity, so Easter Seals New York believes that it is fitting venue to celebrate our programs and the hope that they bring to thousands of people. Be it through our child developmental centers, camping, vocational training programs, veteran programs, or our diagnostic and treatment center, we provide those virtues to thousands of children and adults each year.In his welcome John McGrath, Chief Executive Director ESNY stated, “Easter Seals New York dedicates this event to the spirit of hope for the future of our country; the spirit of faith in our ability to meet the challenges we face; 
and the spirit of charity for our fellow citizens.”​Easter Seals New York honored the memory of Governor Hugh L. Carey, for his role in changing the lives of individuals with disabilities in New York State.  Susan Carey Dempsey on behalf of the Carey family and the late governnor accepted the Edgar F. Allen Political Service Award. Past recipients of the award include United States Senator Charles E. SchumerEaster Seals honored Heffernan Insurance with the Lilli and Allan Shedlin Award because of their leading role in supporting the organization.HighTower, a financial services company is received the Outstanding Citizenship Award for their support of programs for children.The emcee for the event is philanthropist Heather Mills, with special guest Ernie Anastos participating in the event which raised over $300,000.00.Easter Seals New York thanked the sponsors who made the event possible: Amway, BWW Charities, Katzman Produce and Hunts Point Produce Market.Entertainment was provided by Colin Hay
