Family Service League’s Project TOY is a special holiday program that brings excited smiles to so many children’s faces. FSL Project TOY collects new, donated toys from partnering businesses and individuals; and raises funds through the FSL Star Program to purchase additional age-appropriate holiday gifts for Long Island children.
Last year the program served 5,000 children and approximately 1/3 resides on Long Island's East End. This year more than ever, the requests for toys and the outcry for FSL services has become magnified. With the trauma of Hurricane Sandy, FSL is providing crisis counseling for children, families and individuals who have been displaced, coping with changes, face uncertainty, plus financial and job loss due to hundreds of business closures and the storm’s destruction. Support is needed to help provide for so many Long Islanders.
Project TOY is giving parents who are struggling financially the opportunity to provide holiday gifts for their children (age’s infant-18) and experience the dignity of giving their children a truly happy holiday. The gifts are distributed through the FSL Family Centers. Each pre-registered family may choose two gifts for each of their children with the assistance of the FSL staff.
The donated new, unwrapped toys are being collected at the following locations and should be dropped off by Monday, December 17th:
Astoria Federal Savings Bank 71 Sunset Avenue, Westhampton Beach, NY
Astoria Federal Savings Bank 65 Nugent Street, Southampton, NY
Westhampton Free Library 7 Library Avenue, Westhampton Beach, NY
