Freshman Orientation At WH High School

Summer is dwindling down, but there are still some great events and important happenings taking place today in the neighborhood.

-Freshman Orientation begins today for incoming 9th-graders at Westhampton Beach High School. The orientation starts at 9 a.m. and goes until noon. Click on the hyperlink to read a welcome letter from Principal Herr.

-Tonight at 7:30, Patch will be at the Gazebo on Main Street to snap some photos and mull around during the outdoor performance from the North Shore Pops. It’s all part of the Westhampton Beach free summer concert series. The North Shore Pops are a concert band known for covering such greats as Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington. The band will also cover some classic Broadway show tunes for everyone to enjoy.

-The Hurricane Grill and Wings in Manorville is celebrating its grand opening tonight with a Wing Eating Contest at 7 p.m. Soccer legend Keith “K27A” Arce and former Green Bay Packer Gary Brown will be sitting down to compete against you, all to benefit Ronald McDonald House. Free activities all day as well, so make sure to stop by.

-Bret Dennen will be performing at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center tonight at 8 p.m. Dennen, who recently signed with F Stop/Atlantic Records, has a folk sound that has been featured in TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Scurbs, Parenthood and House. Tickets: $25.

-At the Hampton Classic Horse Show, aside from everything going on in the rings, the Delete Blood Cancer organization will be on hand to collect donor information for DBC's bone marrow registry on Thursday. The Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons will present birds of prey in the Kids Area, too.
