Wildflower to Make a Showing on Valentine's Day in New Location

Every time she passes her former location on Montauk Highway Hampton Bays, says she gets a sinking feeling in her heart.  It was a location that she loved and adored. However, with problems with sewage and her landlord, Marchese said she had to move her business, , to a new location in Westhampton Beach. This will be her first Valentine's Day in the new location and she plans to make a showing.

"We have some great new stuff," said Marchese. "We are trying to keep it chic and current and not just your typical dozen roses."

This Valentine's Day, Marchese says her business, which sells thousands of red roses that are shipped in from South America and Africa for Valentine's Day, will sparkle up any bouquet by sprinkling them with glitter.

Wildflower Florists is featuring other goodies that can be given to a loved one in addition to flowers, including locally-made chocolates from , hand-made jewelry, specialties for pets, candles from Jamesport Candles, and flower petals.

"Flower petals are so romantic and fun," said Marchese, who says she is giving them out free of charge to anyone who buys a box of roses.

Marchese believes that despite the economy, customers will still flock to her store and she plans to employ anyone and everyone "who is willing to get a few pricks from rose thorns."

Marchese says that Valentine's Day is a huge boost for her economically because though sales have dwindled — more people used to buy fresh flowers daily — people will still buy flowers for Valentine's Day.

"It is a day that someone who is even economically challenged will still buy flowers to show someone that they care," she said.

And Marchese says that while she will sell many long-stem rose boxes for $75 each, she has bouquets to meet anyone's financial needs, including simple daisies that many father's buy for their daughters.

"For the price of a six pack of beer, a man can show the women in his life that he cares," she said. "A bouquet of flowers can go a long way."

Aside from roses and daisies, Marchese says customers also look to buy tulips and sunflowers.

And for those who aren't sure exactly what to buy, Marchese says her army of Valentine's Day employees are armed and ready to help, including offering up romantic ideas, like spelling out special words with rose peddles.

With a son in the military, Marchese said this year, Wildflower will also be offering a 20 percent discount to members of the military.
