Village Police: 79-Year-Old Slapped With Felony Assault Charges

The following information was supplied by the Westhampton Beach Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Westhampton Beach Village Police reports from Nov. 21 through Nov. 28:

Assault

A 79-year-old Westhampton Beach man faces a felony assault charge after hitting his neighbor in the face with a stick last week, according to police.

Frank Gordon’s Redfield Lane neighbor, a 46-year-old man, told Village Police that on Nov. 20 at around 12:15 p.m. he was putting his leash on his dog in his driveway when Gordon walked over to him. Gordon pushed the 46-year-old neighbor onto his dog, and, when the neighbor stood up, hit him in the face with a stick.

The neighbor had a small scratch after being struck but did not seek medical attention, officers said.

Gordon was arrested at police headquarters on Nov. 23 at 12:45 p.m. and charged with second-degree assault, a felony.

Resisting Arrest

Kevin Huff, 19, of Eastport was arrested Nov. 26 at 3:24 a.m. behind the Margarita Grille in Westhampton Beach and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation. Officers say they responded to a call about a fight on Main Street, and then found Huff, who police say was highly intoxicated, behind the Margarita Grille. Police said Huff became combative over a driver’s license he was carrying that did not belong to him, and punched an officer in the face.

DWAI

Meredith Abrams, 30, of Speonk was arrested Nov. 27 at 1:03 p.m. on Old Riverhead Road in Westhampton Beach and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and driving while ability impaired by alcohol, a violation. Officers stopped Abrams for having a broken windshield when they discovered she appeared intoxicated.
