Truck Overturns on Old Country Road; Traffic Slows

Update 4:45 p.m.: Southampton Town police report that a dump truck carrying mulch overturned at the corner of Montauk Highway and Old Country Road and traffic will continue to be diverted until at least 6 p.m.

Police are still on the scene and Suffolk County officials have been called for a safety inspection.

Previous: Police and emergency personnel have arrived on the scene of an over-turned truck on Old Country Road in Westhampton near Lighthouse Insurance.

According to witnesses, the truck, which flipped around 3:00 p.m., appears to have been carrying mulch, which spilled out onto the road.

Traffic is being diverted off Old Country Road.
