Ramped Up DWI Enforcement Leads To Arrests

Southampton Police charge four with DWI on Friday and early Saturday morning.

Southampton Police weren’t kidding when they said they would be out in force this Memorial Day weekend to .  Already, police have made four DWI arrests.

On Saturday night, police arrested Curtis Sepul Veda, 20, of Hampton Bays on Flanders Road in Flanders. Police say Sepul Veda was spotted swerving on the roadway 10:30 p.m.

At around 2 a.m., police made two more DWI arrests.  A seventeen-year-old from Hampton Bays was stopped on Gravel Hill Road in Hampton Bays for driving without headlights. After an investigation, police said he had been drinking. 

Meanwhile, in Westhampton, on Country Road 31, police pulled over Haber Moralles-Reyes, 24, of Jamesport, for failing to maintain his lane.  Police say Moralles-Reyes was under the influence of alcohol and arrested and charged with DWI.

The same was true for Sabrina Parker, 31, of Bellport, who was nabbed after police said she was driving erratically on East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

In addition to the four DWI arrests, police also raided a home on South Bay Avenue in Eastport where they arrested Heather Petrie, 38, and charged her with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class-A misdemeanor. She was also charged with violating the Social Host Law.

Police say Petrie was arrested after police were called to her home after receiving reports of underage drinking.  At the home police say they found teenagers, between the ages of 14 and 18 drinking alcohol.
