Fire Department Uses Facebook Video To Solicit Volunteers

With images of fire fighters on the job, the Hampton Bays Fire Department hopes to boost recruitment.

Like many Long Island fire departments, the often struggles with recruiting new volunteers. To battle the issue, the department has released a video that aims to garner new blood.

The video, which the department posted on Facebook, features the song Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin and depicts the firemen of Hampton Bays on the job.

Rick Nydegger, a Hampton Bays firefighter who made the video, said the department has a goal to bring it's volunteer membership to 100.  They are currently only a few members short of their goal and he hopes the video will put membership over the top.
